What you have is more commonly called "Crested Ware". In the years 1870 - 1930 many factories produced these small pieces of porcelain as souvenirs for the masses of the population that were beginning to regard holidays as a right.Carlton produced a wide range of goods in many differing shapes and usually with a town crest (where purchased).
The best known of these manufacturers was the Goss factory, thier work was probably of the finest quality. With Goss pieces each piece has its own crest associated with it. Although the pieces were generally reproduced with differing crests the correct shape/crest combination is usually worth more.
There is a book that covers the whole subject and should be available from your local library. "Crested China" by Nicholas Pine covers all the known factories producing crested ware and has a complete list of the Carlton items (with photographs). The book also has a price guide which I must say I have never found to be very good.
