Thanks so much for help...this tray measures 16" long 11" wide...The mark is a shield with lion on top with a star at tip of lions nose or face..in the shield are lots of straight lines then in middle of shield is like an up side down V with another star looking symble under that then underneath the shield is a banner looking piece with the words Royal Sheffield...the two ff's are blurred.....Tray weights almost 5 lbs...it is footed has lots of cutouts in galley around tray and lots and lots of heavy etched flowers with scrolling in pattern inside tray.
lots of black or dark where there is pattern....I do not see any copper and believe this is some type of metal but don't know what...I do not believe to be silver plate over copper...there are a few scratches and you only see silverish there...too heavy to be sterling....Hope this will be of more help....this almost has a pewter look...is this possible? .....Thanks again for any help you can be....Frances Rogers
