victorian vase/urn

I have had in my possession for the last 20yrs an unusual item which I found while roaming the hills of scotland. My neighbour at the time took it to the local
museum who indicated that it may be from the victorian times and could be a vase or an urn.Having "lost" it in my parents attic , the time has come for me to find out more about this vase/urn. The markings on it are very unusual , it is rather heavy but also very beautiful. The colours are dark/light grey.
Any ideas out there ?
