sheffield teapot

I was wondering if anyone out there could help me??? I have a Sheffield teapot and am trying to determine its age. It is probably silver, although it looks like it could be pewter. It has a wooden handle with a "c" curve at the top. The bottom of the pot says "James Dixon and Sons" and "Sheffield" just beneath that. It also has the number 1000 with the number 5 below. Can you offer any insight into the origin of this pot or where I might be able to find out more about it?

Thanks for your help.
