Can any one help in identifying/dating an unusual lamp? I would guess the lamp to be victorian. It stands about 3 feet high, and is very heavy. It is made from cast iron and the base looks like a miniature Nelsons Column. The lamp part looks like an old victorian street lamp, and overall this is the appearance the lamp gives. The lamp should have 4 glass sides, but these are missing, and it has been wired at some stage. The wiring looks very old and is cloth covered, with a bakelite bayonet fitting. It looks gold painted, which may or may not be original. On the square base, it has laurel wreaths on all 4 sides. The base of the lantern has we think Acanthus leaf detail in cut out, and there is pierced work to the top of the lantern with a finial style top. The lantern section unscrews from the fluted column base, and when we dismantled it we found an old victorian 1/2 penny with a date that looks like 1893 inside, which we believe was place inside when it was wired. If anyone has any ideas or clues, please contact me.Many thanks Dalia
