I have recently been given my grandfathers glass hip flask with a brown leather covered top half and an EPBM bottom /cup. The ball shaped stopper/cap is also EPBM Marked on the bottom /cup J. D & S (In Gothic letter) in a square shape, corners rounded and has a trumpet and banner next to this. It also has the number 584A and the capacity 1/4pt (And Made in England) Neck of stopper is also stamped J D and S (ordinary letters) Research has shown me that this was made by James Dixon and son and the trumpet and banner was their mark I know the company was established in Sheffield 1806 until 1976 .here the trail runs cold! Can anyone give me any clues as to how I can find the date of this piece? I hoping the number and style of lettering may give a clue?
